To Do Justly, to Love Mercy and to Walk Humbly

Does anybody else find themselves spending a lot of time thinking about the future? There are a number of things that seem to push our thoughts forward. Have you ever planned a really, really great vacation months in advance, and then found yourself daydreaming about the day that you will finally get to go! Or have you ever been so freezing cold that all you could do is think about how nice it will be when you finally get back into the warmth? Our thoughts always turn towards the future when change is imminent. Beginnings and endings especially grab our attention. We are forever saying things like, "I can't wait until this day is over", or "I can't wait until tomorrow."
It is this capacity to look forward that separates us from the rest of creation. We alone insist on occupying ourselves with what we will eat and what we will wear. Isn't it interesting that God gave us this unique ability and then commands us not to use it! We were not created to worry, we were created to dream. God's plan from the beginning has been to entrust us with establishing His kingdom on the earth and in order for us to accomplish this task, we must be able to dream about what that kingdom might look like!
Ever since this dream took a hold of my life I have become obsessed with seeing the love of God poured out over all people. Ever since I became convinced that Justice and Mercy will eventually fill the entire earth, I have become distinctly aware of the fact that injustice and cruelty are still winning in a lot of places.

In fact, I don't like to talk about the places that we are losing. I would much rather celebrate our victories than mourn over our defeats. However, there is a burden that I simply cannot shake.... a sense of obligation to those whose lives have been destroyed by the enemy. I need to mourn with those who are mourning... and I need to turn my attention to the places that Satan's will is being done, and I need to prophecy an end to the evil that he brings.

So... from a place of reluctance, I need to draw your attention to a few places on the earth in which we are losing, Satan is winning, and because of who we are called to be, we are obligated to act.

Did you know that there are people in our church whose friends and families have been systematically hunted down and murdered?

Did you know that there are people in our church who were forced to flee their homes and countries because their lives were threatened because of their faith in Jesus Christ?

Did you know that there are people right now, in this very 24 hours, who are being tortured to death in front of their families just because of the language that they speak?

I am talking about the ongoing atrocities that are occurring in Sudan and Burma.

Please take a moment and watch this video and leave some feedback below.
